Here is everything about us, and more importantly,

Our Passion

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) dates back over 2000 years, but with the world domination of the west, biomedicine has taken over as the primary form of medical care around the world despite being only around 600 years old. There are controversies around considering TCM as a medical system because it is not scientifically backed. This is because biomedicine is developed in conjunction with advancements in science and technology and TCM literally speaks a completely different “language” from the two. TCM survived thousands of years of history because it works, in an “unexplained” way for now, but it is backed by a growing number of clinical trails.

There are definitely strengths and weaknesses with both medical systems. But TCM is a great and natural alternative to biomedicine for chronic ailments and health preservation. We created eleWellness so that you can assess and improve your health through a different lens. For instance, did you know that getting cramps during one’s period is not normal but rather a new norm? With more TCM knowledge, you will learn to listen to your body, and ways that you can optimize your health.

Health is… 10% to do with the help of others, 90% from diet, habits and within.

Whether it’s insomnia, migraine headaches, or chronic pain; fine-tuning your lifestyle, tweaking your diet, and becoming more mindful with your emotions are all easy steps that you can take to substantially improve your health. There is a bad rap to TCM being old school and a mere superstition, and we are here to reboot and rebrand it. eleWellness’s goal is to translate these ancient wisdoms into terms that you would understand and scenarios that you can relate to. Providing healing service is our secondary mission, enlightening the public of this wellness option is our true passion. eleWelleness stands for… Elevating your wellness through natural elements.

About Our Founder: Karen Tsoi

After graduating from Engineering, years of working as a technology consultant, co-owning a specialty coffee shop, and starting a fashion start-up, Karen was on a quest for THE passion project - a project that she can see herself doing happily (for a long long time) while bringing a meaningful impact to the world, one person at a time.

On a fateful trip after witnessing her friend almost drowning then getting saved with an emergency acupuncture treatment, Karen decided to trace back to her roots, to try to understand how this mystic practice called Traditional Chinese Medicine can potentially benefit people. She remembered growing up with all these folk’s remedies that she had taken for granted at the time, without realizing how powerful this natural practice can be.

Fast forward a few years of TCM schooling, she is now a Registered Acupuncturist (in Ontario, Canada), with plans to complete her advanced training in the next year to become a Doctor of TCM (in BC, Canada). She is currently teaching at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and serves as a Board member on the Traditional Chinese Medicine Ontario Association (TCMO).

Her primary goal remains after all her TCM training - to rebrand TCM, and to help the modern world understand (and take advantage of) this ancient medical wisdom.
